The Real Estate General Authority (REGA) has been established to regulate the non-government real estate sector in KSA, increase efficiency and encourage investment in order to enhance economic and social development. Through proposing laws regulations and policies related to the real estate activities. As well as supervision of real estate sector and setting standards in coordination with concerned agencies to ensure integration of real estate infrastructure and formation of an interconnected ecosystem. To achieve this, REGA has developed KSA's national real estate sector strategy in alignment of its existing business plan and KSA 2030 vision. The Council of Ministers approved on 2017 the establishment of the Real Estate General Authority which emerged from the housing program responsible for a wide range of competencies and tasks particularly: Developing laws, regulations, and policies governing real estate activities Organizing and controlling real estate advertisements Licensing and setting standards for real estate activities Applying the real estate registry law Participating and organizing real estate exhibitions Monitoring real estate sector indexes Developing and publishing databases for real estate activities Training and qualifying licensees and professionals in real estate activities Arranging and publishing real estate indicators and statistics REGA oversees the comprehensive strategy for the real estate sector, approved in year 2020 by the Council of Ministers, the strategy is based on four main pillars: sector governance, market efficiency, stakeholder service and sector sustainability. REGA regulates many real estate sectors through laws and legislations such asso far, most notably, real estate registration law, real estate brokerage law, real estate contributions law, off-plan sale and lease law, and real estate units ownership and sorting law.
