An online service for receiving and reviewing requests to add new speed bumps, assigning the relevant authority to investigate the causes, conduct a site visit and engineering assessment, and then instruct the road-maintenance contractor to carry out the work.

Register on the application portal
The beneficiary submits a request for a new speed bump via the Riyadh Municipality e-portal, enters their personal data, is identity-verified through the Yaqeen service, and attaches the required documents.
The Head of the Safety Department receives the request, reviews the data and attachments, and forwards it to the surveyor for technical assessment.
The beneficiary completes any outstanding attachments and resubmits the request through the portal.
The surveyor studies the request, prepares a technical report, and files it with the Head of the Safety Department.
The Head of the Safety Department forwards the report to the Head of the Roads Department at the Municipality for further review.
The Head of the Roads Department examines the request and refers it to the Cost Controller.
The Cost Controller calculates the estimated implementation cost and refers the request to the appointed contractor.
The contractor determines the actual implementation cost and returns the request to the Head of the Roads Department for final approval.
The Head of the Roads Department formally approves the request.
The beneficiary receives an SMS notification confirming that the speed bump installation has been scheduled and will be executed.

Speed bumps shall not be installed on the city’s principal roads (expressways and arterial streets) and are only permitted, where necessary, on local and collector roads (with a posted speed limit of 50 km/h or less).
Speed bumps may be placed upstream of existing roundabouts that exhibit geometric-design deficiencies, in order to reduce vehicle speed within the roundabout and mitigate potential accidents.
Speed bumps shall be installed where the roadway alignment changes; specifically, a bump may be located 50 m in advance of any change in carriageway width.
At uncontrolled intersections of collector roads, speed bumps may be installed 30 m upstream of the junction on the intersecting approaches.
Parking areas adjacent to mosques, schools, and other public-service facilities may be surrounded by speed bumps when necessary, with spacing of approximately 30 m between successive bumps.
At cul-de-sac ends or where roads terminate in undeveloped terrain, a speed bump shall be placed 50 m before the roadway’s end.
Speed bumps may be installed at locations that attract large numbers of pedestrians—especially near schools, mosques, healthcare facilities, and parks—to enhance pedestrian safety.
Speed bumps may be provided at uncontrolled intersections with limited sight distances to improve safety.
Prior to sharp horizontal or vertical curves, speed bumps or rumble strips shall be installed to warn approaching drivers.
On minor streets immediately upstream of U-turn bays, speed bumps may be installed to compel vehicles to come to a complete stop before re-entering the main roadway.
In all of the above cases, appropriate traffic signage and all necessary traffic-control devices shall be installed to warn drivers of the presence of speed bumps.
