E-Media: New York - Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was re-elected for the membership of UN Human Rights Council on behalf of the Asian continent for three-year terms on the 47-seat Geneva-based council in a vote by the U.N. General Assembly, joining 29 others who are in mid-term.The Kingdom obtained 154 votes out of a total of 192 votes. The Kingdom was only in need of 97 votes for the re-election process.Jordan, China, Bangladesh and Kyrgyzstan were also elected to the membership on behalf of the Asian continent.For the first time, the US joined the Council's membership, while five countries were elected from the African continent, three countries from Latin-America and the Caribbean region and two countries from Eastern Europe.
