Tarshid Launches Solar PV Project at Qassim University

Riyadh, SPA: The National Energy Services Company (Tarshid) and Qassim University have announced the launch of a solar panel installation project across the university’s buildings and facilities. The project will have a power generation capacity of 5,137 kW and is expected to achieve annual energy savings of 8.6 million kWh.Board Member and CEO of Tarshid Waled AlGhreri stated that following extensive field surveys and technical studies, the company identified significant opportunities to enhance energy efficiency by installing solar panels and systems on rooftops. The initiative promotes self-consumption of clean, renewable energy while adhering to the highest global standards.The project is designed to reduce annual electricity consumption from approximately 186 million kWh to 178 million kWh, aiming to achieve annual energy savings of 8.6 million kWh, preserving more than 13,000 barrels of oil equivalent per year and avoiding approximately 4,000 metric tons of carbon emissions—an environmental impact comparable to planting over 82,000 tree seedlings annually.This initiative aligns with Tarshid's mission to support the Kingdom’s strategic sustainability goals under Vision 2030, with a focus on energy conservation and carbon emission reduction.
