Historical overview
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was established at the founding king's hands, Abd al-Aziz bin Abdul Rahman Al Saud. May God have mercy on him, who united its vast lands. Among its sons, my brother ruled the Book of God and the Sunnah of His Messenger, and its people pledged allegiance to it as their possession. And it was named "The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia," starting from 05/21/1351 AH corresponding to 09/23/1932 AD, and this day was designated as the National Day of the Kingdom.

Logo and flag
The emblem of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia consists of two intersecting, curved Arab swords, topped by a palm tree. The two swords symbolize strength, resilience, and sacrifice, while the palm tree symbolizes vitality, growth, and prosperity.
As for its flag, its floor is green, and in the middle of it is the Shahada (There is no god but God and Muhammad is the Messenger of God) in the thuluth font, and under it is an Arab sword whose fist is pointing towards the flagpole painted in white. It is not permissible to lower it or touch the ground or water regarding the testimony written on it.

Kingdom's currency
The basic unit of the Kingdom's currency is the Saudi riyal, which is covered with gold and is convertible into foreign currencies and is equal to 100 halalas. The currency denominations are paper: one riyal, five riyals, ten riyals, twenty riyals, fifty riyals, one hundred riyals, two hundred riyals, and five hundred riyals. Mineral: the riyal, fifty halala, twenty-five halala, ten halalas, and five halalas. The US dollar is equivalent to 3.75 riyals (three riyals and seventy-five halalas).

Approved calendar
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia relies on the Hijri calendar based on the migration of God's Messenger. May God bless him and grant him peace, from Mecca to Medina. The lunar Hijri year is 354 days divided into twelve lunar months.

• Eid Al-Fitr holiday: It starts from the twenty-fifth of Ramadan until the fifth of the month of Shawwal and lasts from ten days to two weeks, depending on its compatibility with the weekend.
• Eid Al-Adha holiday: It starts from the fifth of the month of Dhu al-Hijjah until the fifteenth of it. Government departments and institutions are suspended during these holidays.

Culture and Heritage:


Arts
The General Sports Authority is responsible for arts in the Kingdom. It prepares annual and five-year plans to promote and develop the skills and organize competitions and exhibitions regularly. The authority also organizes Saudi art exhibitions abroad; To provide an international forum for Saudi artists to strengthen cultural ties with the organizing countries.


Folk Music, Dance, and Poetry
Saudis celebrate the Janadriyah National Festival annually as part of Saudi heritage and culture. The "Ardha" dance is considered one of the most popular national dances in the Kingdom. The "steppe" music is one of the most popular types of popular music. The oboe and drum are used as part of the tribal and traditional Saudi customs. The "Samaritan" dance is a traditional folk dance in which dancing and singing are combined. Poetry is of particular importance in Arab culture and has been considered for a long time to express Arab literary art. Poetry is still spread among Saudis through the media or traditional oral poetry.


Arab and Islamic traditions
Saudi traditions are rooted in Islamic teachings and Arab customs. Traditions are especially prominent during the holy month of Ramadan, the Hajj season, and the holidays that follow. In the blessed month of Ramadan, Muslims fast from dawn to sunset, followed by Eid al-Fitr. As for the Hajj season, it attracts millions of Muslims annually from all over the world to Mecca, and the blessed Eid al-Adha follows the Hajj season. One of the most important Saudi traditions and customs is generosity and hospitality. Arabic coffee is served as part of the hospitality for visitors, friends or even family.


The language
Arabic is the official language of the Kingdom, and it is the official language of many Arab countries in the Middle East and North Africa. Writing in traditional Arabic is the usual writing for all Arab countries, and it is the same writing and language in which the Muslim holy book, the Holy Qur'an, was written. Writings in Arabic are officially used in letters, speeches, television, films, plays, and poetry. English is considered a second language in the Kingdom, as it is widely used, especially among educated Saudis.


Cultural institutions
A variety of cultural institutions have been established throughout the Kingdom to preserve cultural heritage. The largest of which is the Ministry of Culture, which sponsors a wide range of cultural programs such as literary and dramatic clubs, folklore, office events, arts and crafts, in addition to scientific projects. The ministry regularly sponsors scholarly exhibitions and seminars in its regional offices and at its headquarters in Riyadh. Other cultural institutions in the Kingdom include the Saudi Arabian Society for Culture and Arts, King Fahd Library in Riyadh, and the National Museum in Riyadh.


Saudi Antiquities Exhibition
The idea of this exhibition is to move between famous museums in Europe and the United States of America to introduce the world to Saudi culture and highlight the special importance of the Kingdom's antiquities to understand the chain of human history related to the Kingdom's advanced present. More than 320 artifacts on display cover many historical periods, from the Palaeolithic period (million years BC) to the Saudi Renaissance.


National heritage campaign and Saudi cultural development
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is a country with a profound cultural heritage and is linked to a series of human civilizations that have guided the Islamic religion. The campaign seeks to shed light on the cultural aspects of the Kingdom that are related to Islamic, political, and economic factors. The campaign's programs and projects also aim to focus on the cultural importance of the national heritage.
